#my500words: A letter to the 15-year old me

I've been wanting to write this letter for a long time. I just can't find the right words. So why did I choose to write to the 15-year old me? Well, because at that time I thought I had the biggest problem, I thought I had the most painful heartbreak but now that I'm older, looking back at those times makes me laugh hard at myself and even cringe when I remember my stupidity. haha!

Dear 15-year old me,

Hi! I know you're having a hard time right now and you feel like the world is out there to come and get you. Everything feels like trash and for the first time, you are taking risk and learning the pains of the so called "first love." Please don't stress yourself and worry about it until the middle of the night. It is okay to feel happy. As much as I don't want to deal with this but I have to say, your heartbreak felt like the most painful you had but girl, it is not! It is just a lesson that you have to learn. There is someone out there meant for you, I just don't know when he'll arrive. Maybe, you'll also realize that you don't need somebody to be complete you. You'll be fine girl, I swear. For sure, your future self will laugh at you because you fell in love to someone out of your type. What's wrong girl? I thought you have high standards? loljoke. It may look like you'll never get over that person but I swear, girl!!! YOU CAN AND YOU WILL! You'll find a more worthy person to love. You also need to stop posting unnecessary quotes on your friendster account okay? In time, you'll be fine and it's not the end of the world! haha!

So, you're in the room moping because you can't go to the mall with your friends, you can't hang out with them after school. You have a family that has strict rules but don't worry when you're older you'll be more free to do the things you want. Remember your conversation with your mom? Don't worry when you graduate from College you can do whatever you want without asking for her permission. Well, girl! Your wait will be really worth it. You will gain your parents' trust that even if you are still in college, start to let you go and make you do things that you want. You will even end up with your classmates in Sierra Madre appreciating nature... Haha. Sad that you didn't experience it in high school but ... Come on it is more fun! I'm proud of you that even if you had strict rules in the house you didn't end up being a rebellious girl. It was hard to follow the rules that sometimes you end up hating everyone (haha!) but still you thought this will all end. Because of those things you learned that trust is a big thing and to never mess with it.

Just enjoy the moment especially the time that you have with your friends. Time will come that you'll have different lives and it will be hard to be in one place at the same time. Tell them you love them, do more stupid things with them, and stop worrying about the unknown.

You'll be okay and awesome. I'm proud of you.

                                                                                                                                       Love,
                                                                                                                           The 23-year old me :)

#my500words: Dear you

I'm just on my third #my500words post and it feels like I don't know what to write anymore (haha!) I really don't want to read my last posts because I might end up doing more tweaks which is not part of this personal challenge.

Anyway, I got an idea from a post I saw on tumblr. There's this certain blogger who writes short notes to people close to her, sometimes strangers but the catch is it doesn't have a name. There's no clue of who she is talking about. It's like the letters we write on our diary but this time it is posted online and that person is unknown...

It's like letting all your feelings out.

So, I'm going to do it too.

Phew.

Hey, I know that you are having a hard time right now. You have so many questions on what is happening and I know that we all push you to be braver, stronger, and mature enough to tell the truth. I'm really concerned about you. It feels like you decided to be a mature person about this matter but you still can't swallow your pride. I'm afraid that something bad might happen to you just because of your selfishness. Why can't you just tell the truth? I know it is not easy but you have to remember that the clock is ticking and this is not something that you can hide forever. I don't know what to do with you anymore! Please? Please? Please? tell them now! Please?

I never thought someone like you really existed. You are such a douche bag.. You fucking jerk. Whenever I remember your name, all I think about is jerk! jerk! jerk! *ssh*le. Ugh! How can you let something happen so easily and then deny it afterwards. Someday, when everything will fall into place, I hope the time will come that you realize the things that you did. I hope when the right time comes, you'll regret the day that you saved yourself and even used God's name in vain. I know that not everything is your fault but when I read all your messages... I cried because you made someone so important to me feel like trash. When the truth is you are the crap. (I'm sorry to say this and I'll probably regret this but, I just don't care right now.) I just hope these things that you've done will not happen to anyone close to you. and one last thing, Stop! saying that you are a changed person.. because you are not!

Thank you for opening yourself up to me. You rather keep everything to yourself and does not build a lot of relationships because you're just not that kind of person. I'm happy whenever you tell me stories about you because I know that you trust me enough to tell me those things. Last year was the time that I learned to build a wall and limit myself to people who knows me best. It was surprising that I gained a new friend in you. Thank you. Thank you for helping me whenever I don't know what to do especially when I was the new girl. Thank you for teaching me to be a less worrier.

This is something I know I will laugh whenever I got the chance to read again in the future. But what the hell, I just want to say it.

My daydreams are often about you and me meeting somewhere far from home. I even imagine myself being disappointed because the you in my dreams is very far from the you in real life. And then, I go back to that night of the gig when you smile that genuine smile...  And *poof*here goes the daydreamer again. Don't worry I don't imagine my future with you, I'm old enough to realize that you are just a crush -- a super crush!

You'll be fine. Just don't ever give up on your dreams. One step at a time. :) You'll get there.

Wow!!! I enjoyed this.. Maybe I should do this more often! :)

Email sent to me... Just in time when I am trying to think of making concepts and plans for my future short and added plus  I'm thinking what to write for my contribution on Imaginaccion literary book  2012 :) !

Here are some poetry prompts for you to celebrate the new year.

1) Write a poem about something you tried for the first time in 2011.

2) Write a poem about something you lost in 2011.

3) Write a poem that captures your feeling about 2011 in under 3 lines.

4) Write a poem from the point of view of your future self.

5) Write a poem including all of the following words: champagne, presentiment, midnight, transform.

Looking for story ideas?  Invent a character, and give him or her one of these New Year's resolutions:

1) Your character decides she's going to make a certain person fall in love with her... at any cost.

2) Your character decides finally to stand up to the bully/boss/relative who has been making your character miserable.

3) Your character decides he or she's going to stop lying to everyone about his/her secret (for example, a secret job, a secret problem, a secret relationship).

Happy New Year and happy writing!

I wish you a creative, productive, healthy, and happy year ahead.

Warm regards,

Nancy
