Selective Amnesia
Lacunar amnesia is the loss of memory about one specific event. It is a type of amnesia that leaves a lacuna (a gap) in the record of memory.
source: wikipedia.org
I heard this word from a korean tv show that i was watching two weeks ago. The main character had an amnesia when he saved the life of his bestfriend. I know it will really happen, because it is the story of the Taiwanese version *the amnesia thing.
But, I was shocked when the doctor said, He has a selective amnesia. I said "WEH?! joke time? MERON ba talagang ganun?" Because the only person he can't remember is the girl he love.
So I searched it in wikipedia -- and there! *meron nga!*
It is called Lacunar Amnesia
The doctor explained that *"Kung ano ang pinakamasaya at pinakamasakit na nangyari sa buhay niya, yun yung nakalimutan niya."* But, the memories will be back after some months especially if the people close to him will keep reminding him of those beautiful memories.
It is also said by Steven Johnson that "The person who has that particular amnesia will have a general unease encountering the person who had harmed them in the past."
Even if they forget a certain event they can still remember their past feelings.
I just find it amusing, how the writers made a different twist in the story.
*Ang sakit kaya nun! Lahat sila naaalala niya, IKAW lang hindi?"!* WTH?!
I want to explain more about it kaso ang daming scientific words (*sorry! SCIENCE eh! lam nyo naman!!!) Meron pang binanggit na hippocampus and amygdala.
haha!
Its nice to learn new things and I love it more when I watch shows that has more REAL storylines. I love fiction but I also want things that also happens in reality.
Yun akala nating gawagawa lang, pero totoo pala.
