If Only

He loved her like there was no tomorrow. (If Only, 2004)

A movie that made many girls cry. It even made my Mama cry. I watched this movie with my highschool girl friends some years ago. We were really touched by the sweet gestures of the guy in the movie. I watched it again with my Mama when we bought our own dvd. She cried so much in the movie. I cried too but I have a small smile in my face. She knows that I like tragic endings and she doesn't. Until, now when I say "If Only" to her, she always remember the movie! :)

This movie will always be a reminder of giving love as much you can. Also, it's not all about love but how much time you can give to someone you love. You can never learn how to love through rules & lectures. It is when you stop and look at the person and ask yourself, what can you do to make him/her happy?

I had the chance to watch the movie again yesterday. Our cables' busted and I don't have anything to do because I'm still thinking what to read next. Then I saw the movie on our dvd rack. I watched it again and appreciated the movie more. I forgot that the movie was shot in London... Oh! London. :)

And now because of the movie, I can't help but to put Jennifer Love Hewitt's songs in my cellphone! :)
JLH, composed the two songs she sang in the movie, awesome right?

Take My Heart Back

Love will show you everything
this part is one of the heartwarming scene. Ian made Sam's dream happen. gosh! *tears*

and the most epic lines in the movie:

Ian Wyndham: I Love you.
Samantha Andrews: Ooh I Love you too.
Ian Wyndham: I wanna tell you why I love you.
Samantha Andrews: It's... It's raining, you know that right.
Ian Wyndham: I have to tell you this and you need to hear it. I loved you since I met you, but I wouldn't allow myself to truly feel it until today. I was always thinking ahead, making decisions soaked with fear... Today, because of you... what I learned from you; every choice I made was different and my life has completely changed... and I've learned that if you do that, then you're living your life fully... it doesn't matter if you have five minutes or fifty years. Samantha if not for today, if not for you I would never have known love at all... So thank you for being the person who taught me to love... and to be love.
Samantha Andrews: I don't know what to say.
Ian Wyndham: You don't have to say anything... I just wanted to tell you.

Have a good night everyone!

Live Again.

Thanks for the adventure. Now go have one of your own. -Ellie

I'm channel surfing after lunch time when I saw Up on Disney Channel. I stopped channel surfing for awhile and watch Russell and Mr. Fredricksen. I remember that I also cried on this movie. This Pixar movie has a place in my heart too. :)

Russell is very adorable, innocent and sweet.

Whenever, I watch movies I always reflect after I watch it. So, I'm making my list on what I learned from UP. :)

*Reach for your dreams.
*Stay cheerful and adventurous.
*A death of someone special should not stop you from living your own life.
*Sometimes, life will struck you and all the things you believe in where put into waste.
*Live for yourself but also live for other people. In that way, you might just let them BELIEVE again.
*Love little kids... They NEED love and guidance more than they need toys and fancy things.

And as my favorite quote from the movie, to anyone who lives like Mr. Fredricksen ... Go and have your own adventure... Live again! :)

Forget about tomorrow, we have today

*Major spoilers alert from the film One Day. This is not a film review or something, I just really want to talk about the film!* I'm just speaking for myself, okay.

Directed by: Lone Scherfig
Adapted from David Nicholls' novel One Day
Main characters:
Jim Sturgess
Anne Hathaway

" Smile, cry and appreciate Scotland, England and France, all at the same time. "

After I watched the movie, I had a chitchat with a friend and we agreed that its like the 2011 "If Only." Well, of course, If Only is IF ONLY. I can't even decide if it is a lighter version or the opposite.

One thing that caught my eyes as I watch the trailer (aside from Anne Hathaway), is the locations where the movie was shot. I google-d it and learned that the movie was shot in some parts of England, Scotland and France --my dream travel places!!!

Jim Sturgess and Anne Hathaway are fine as Dex and Emma. I found myself attached to Emma because in some parts of the film she is a fresh graduate and a struggling writer. *okay lets end it with that* Debbie and I were giggling during the movie because we were connecting ourselves with Emma (we said "ayan.. ayan nangyayari sa atin e. Buti pa si Emma kahit struggling may bestfriend na gwapo at may kwartong malakas makatumblr.")

Very true. The movie has a tumblr-y vibes. I really love the film's cinematography!!!! (OMG, myself stop it! haha) Anne Hathaway's british accent in the movie is kinda too much but atleast she tried. (Oh em!! I am so biased about Anne!!! haha

A cry baby

I love how the picturesque views were incorporated as Emma and Dex have their playful banters and pinch to the heart moments. My heart broke when Emma said " I LOVE YOU DEX BUT I DON'T LIKE YOU ANYMORE!" Tears started to roll down in my eyes when Dex announced to Emma that he'll have a shotgun wedding. At that time, i really want to scream in the cinema and scream to Emma "OH MY GOSH! EMMA TELL HIM WHAT YOU REALLY FEEEEEEL! NOOOOOOW!" But, hello?! I would really embarrass myself so I let it go...

Though, there are times that I find the movie a little bit boring in the middle part... pero its okay pa rin naman.

I admit that I'm really a cry baby to any movies that have sensible weeping/crying/heartbreaking scenes. I also always get teary eyed but in One Day I really cried. I am sniffing in an entire heartbreaking scene (sobrang nakakahiya!) Dex is living a miserable life that even i can feel the pain (woooosh*)...

The funny part

I was so into the film when I looked at my friend Debbie, she was weeping!!! She is drying her tears with her hands with complete heavy breathing and loud sobs. THEN I LAUGHED!!!! The scenes in the film were very intense and I was trying not to laugh hard at Debbie! but I did!

Even until the end of the movie, Debbie's crying and I said "Stop it now! People might be confused and tell that i'm the one who made you cry!" haha Her eyes are very puffy and red so as her face! hahahaha! I loooove you my friend! :)) How i wish i could capture that moment too bad I didn't have my camera that time!

Going back

Debbie told me she cried so much because Dex and Emma waited for so long to admit that they are each other's soulmate! They've waited for that perfect moment. Everything is almost in the right place. We both agree on the scene wherein he is finding comfort in her daughter...
THAT heartbreaking scene when she tried holding her daughter's arm and she pushed his arm's away...
But the most painful is Dex's conversation with his father. He thinks he can't live his life again and his Dad said something like this

"YES, YOU CAN. That's what I'm doing for the last 10 years of my life." (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwww)

Honestly, I am such a fan of tragic, unhappy endings but this movie really broke my heart. It even made me wish that Emma and Dex should have their happy ending As I said, "Sa dami ng pinagdaanan nilang hirap.. OKAY NA! I want them to be happy!!)

My bad! i was given what i want but it didn't make me happy.. Still, I am VERY. touched.

ONE DAY reminds us that anything could happen so don't ever let go of those moments. Embrace those beautiful moments and hug tighter those painful memories because when you remember the pain, you will realize that it hurts because it is TRUE and you have given your all.

In time, you'll be okay and say  "We may not have yesterday and tomorrow but we have today...." :)

The Book

I have included the book in my "to read" list in goodreads when I saw it on a book recommendations of my favorite magazine. I really want to read the book first but I remember how I always end up dissatisfied whenever I watch film adaptation of novels that i have read first.

I reminded myself that I wanted to feel the moment. I don't want to compare, I just want to watch a movie that's it! I really want to read the book and I'm sure i will cry buckets of tears! haha.

Once in awhile, movie first before the book. No questions, no confusions. just enjoy the moment and be surprised. :)

Epic movies of my childhood

I love watching movies. I grew up watching movies with my Kuya Ryan and Tita Edios whenever there's a new film that will be released in theaters. I am very open in watching different genres of films. I can watch comedy to drama, action, sci fi etc. I want to try anything just like my choice of books.

Eversince, I have been a huge fan of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leah, daydreamed with me on Legolas dating (haha!), cried with Woody and all the awesome toys of Andy, rooted for Peter Parker and MJ, also had a crush with Robin... (Batman and Robin) and wished that Cyclops is real and he will marry me (Oh! good Lord!).

I hated Darth Vader so much that i even imagined myself killing him. (Anyway, we watched this in VHS... 3 or 4 VHS tapes) It started from Star Wars 4: A new Hope to Star Wars. My favorite is Return of the Jedi, 6th film.  In highschool, my Kuya shared that there will be another star wars movie (Star Wars 1: The Phantom Menace). He explained that it is were it all started. A big reason to watch Darth Vader's back story, what is his life before he became the cruel Darth Vader. I remember, my first girl crush is Padme Amidala (Natalie Portman).

My unforgettable memory of watching the Star Wars movies is when my brother needs to run so that we'll be the first in line to buy the tickets but when he arrived the line is already long. EPIC moment! haha

The Epic movie poster (so old :/)

And yes i remember how much I adore the effects of Lord of the Rings and how I tried to control myself from screaming when Legolas is using his bow and arrow for the war.. i can still remember that zoom  shot! argh! He's so beautiful! haha :) I love the Lord of the Rings: The Two towers the most! :)

And I'm a Spiderman fan so much.. i think Spiderman 2 and 3 is most memorable because we watched it with Papa :) father and kids moment. I love Spiderman so much. Come on! who doesn't know that famous line "With Great power comes great responsibility" and of course that epic upside down kissing scene moment with MJ. *blush*

My Spiderman

And the recent hype, is the Xmen First Class wherein I've learned more about Magneto and Professor X (the history of their friendship) :) I remember I have read the Xmen Comics but not all of it and when i was a kid, all I know is that Storm is awesome and i will marry Cyclops someday! haha! Until, sequels and prequels were released... I've loved the film more and every Xmen character has a huge place in my heart... So when I watched Xmen First Class.. It was so nostalgic because this is were it all started. Btw, can't wait for the next prequels. haha

The aweome Storm

But the film that has affected me the most is... Toy Story!!!...3

Toy Story 1... 1995, I was five years old. Toy Story 2... 1999, I was 9 years old... then 2010/2011, Toy Story 3 was released.. I am already 20 years old. Already said goodbye to my teen years.

Toy Story 3, Little Andy is now a big Andy who will be leaving home for College and the movie opened with videos of little Andy playing with his toys. Before, it feels like they're his only world. It may have a simple plot but for me its the most real.. Remember when Woody looked at his shoe and he saw Andy's name on it. It actually tore me up, and what's funny is my Kuya is also touched.. because of one thing... We actually grew up with Andy. When we watched the movie, we're on the stage of our lives that our toys were just a display or a hand me down for our little cousins and little nephews and nieces. And just like Andy, there are certain toys that we don't want to give. It feels like we will be violated. But, like what Andy did with Woody, he gave him up... to someone he knows who could treat his toys the way he treated them.

It was also a touching scene when Andy saw his little self in Bonnie. Awww. Also, we have to learn to let go because life teaches us that people will come and go in our lives like the toys of Andy. :) I could watch this movie over and over again.

I just hope film makers could still make new awesome films like this for the younger generation. Something wherein they could treasure their childhood moments. :)

So how about you what's your favorite movie?

day nine: two movies you absolutely love

500 days of Summer - my current favorite. I feel for Tom but in such a way, I also understand Summer. Come on, sometimes in life there's this one person who will come into your life who you thought will be forever. Then, you'll just woke up one day that you're not sure of him anymore. Sometimes it happens, and it sucks. IT REALLY SUCKS. so the movie made it to my favorites.
Something cheesy and not so cheesy. Something that could hurt you but could make you smile cause yeah, your life doesn't have to stop just because you were hurt. you can cry but you should know when to stand up. :)

i am sam - this one, you should watch the movie, dakota is awesome so as sean penn and michelle pfeifer, :) eversince, this is my favorite! :)

All I can say is, (AGAIN) do what you can today. APPRECIATE and give LOVE to the people so dear to you...

WHY like this? WHY not like that....

I've been waiting for dear john movie since last year. What's sad is, I thought it will be a good one even if there would be minor changes.

What i don't understand is:

Why do they have to change Allan and Tim's story? It is beautiful in the book why change it? :(
It would give a big impact if Allan will just be seen in the mid part.

Why can't I feel the love of John and Savannah while watching the movie.

Where is Mrs. ... (I forgot her name) but the woman who has been a good neighbor to the Tyrees?

Why is John the only person in his Dad's burial? Its not what's described in the book.

I didn't enjoy the war scenes, its too plain. Or is there any? :P

Why didn't I hear this:
John: I love you Dad
Dad: (without looking at him): I love you John
*it will make the people love John more. or it will make them smile to a see a scene like that, its like a soldier saying i love you to his dad :) sweet!

I have too many questions, *dapat pala ko nagdala ng notepad para naisulat ko. kulang pa to eh*

*blah blah *blah

I know i've been to *madaldal about this. It's just that I love the book so much.

Another thing, THE ENDING. OH! forgive me!, its not the ending in the book guys. I expected more. Part of me knows that they will change the ending but some part of me hopes that they would try to stick to the book's ending. It maybe not be a happy ending but its a good ending. Something more special.

But, I'm wrong. Very wrong. Again, they ruined the story.

Eliza also didn't enjoy the movie. Like me, she had read the book and she had her share of why like this? why not like that? *blah blah blah!*

Plus points in the movie?

We just drool over Channing Tatum. That's it. haha!
I like the cinematography :)
John's Dad cooking Lasagna (*finally they got something right*)

though its not in the book - i like the "its never bigger than your thumb" line from John tyree.

And the "i'll see you then" :)

So, i'll give the movie 2 stars for Channing Tatum :) LOL
