Write a letter today to someone who needs your encouragement. –Jeff Goins

This is the last challenge that Jeff Goins gave to the people who joined his #my500words challenge. I have to admit that I failed it because I haven’t completed the 30 days. I just have at least 12 posts. 12/30, ha! But at least, it encouraged me to write more. I may not have written on my blog everyday but I have left more notes in my little notebook, in my journal, and my planner. Whenever I think of something, I don’t hesitate to write it unlike last year that I chose not to write what I think because I thought it is dumb.

I learned to suck it up and face my fears. I was so afraid that the world might come and get me but I realized that I should stop acting that way. Time to be braver. If I want to write, I should believe in myself and practice more. I need to stop comparing myself to others and stop thinking of not being good enough. Even if my writing is far from perfect at least I am slowly learning from my mistakes.

Even if I am late for the last challenge, I still want to do it. I always talk to people who are close to me, email them every day , chat or tweet and say encouraging things so I figured that I can write an encouraging post for someone who really feels down today – to a frustrated/or depressed or lost twenty-somethings today.

Dear whoever you are,
I don’t know exactly what you are going through but I want you to know that I understand if ever you are confused on where you really want to go. Maybe you have a job or maybe you don’t have one yet. If you have one and still feel lost, well been there, done that my friend. I really can’t say that go and freakin’ leave. No, I won’t do that. I remember when I was also thinking of leaving my first job – I was torn between my dream, my family, and my personal finances. At that time, I was happy until I realized being happy is not enough. Being JUST happy cannot pay the bills. So I decided I have to do something about it. I have read and watched almost all the encouraging, most positive articles and videos just to feel better. Or make myself at ease that I will not make the wrong decision. I was so scared to leave because I’m holding on to what they say "if you’re happy then go for it…" Then reality happened. Life happened. You’ll realize that life is not all about you. There are many factors in being happy especially now that we are still young.

I really want to give up at that time but when I watched this video of a famous broadcaster...She said that if you are happy with what you do, money will follow after you (okay, I’m not sure about this but it is something like that..) then she took a pause and added, “But is it applicable for everyone?” No. She added that some are just lucky while others need to fight harder to achieve their dreams. Don’t grieve and be disappointed for not being part of the privileged ones. Do not mope and give up just because you are one of the people who need to work harder. Instead, work hard, fight harder, and live more.

If you really want to leave your job, leave… but make sure you know what you want to do after. It will be better if before you send that resignation letter, you’ve already figure it out. But, if you can’t figure it out yet, start by talking to people who you know will never judge you on your decisions.

I remember when I have this conversation with my brother, I told him that what if my decisions will turn out to be mistakes? He said (with an annoyed face) so what? If you’ll realize that you made the wrong choice then treat it as an “experience.” Another advice I got is from a veteran photographer in the fashion/entertainment industry, He asked me on why I will leave my job, I told him some of my reasons (like greener pasture and I just want to take a break from the media world). Then I suddenly felt the urge of asking him if I am making the right decisions.. He told me that I am just the one who can answer it and how can I tell if I am wrong or right when I haven’t done it yet? He told me that I am still young and go do the things I want to do.

Well, there are so many encouraging things that we can relate too but not all of them are applicable in our lives. Just pick out the best that you can relate to.

Never ever give up. Allow yourself to grow by making your own decisions. Because at the end of the day, it is your life. Go and do what you want, you freakin’ twenty-something! Make mistakes “Make a lot of them, because there's no better way to learn and to grow, all right?” –Jen Lindley, Dawson’s Creek

Kit

The Highlights of My 2010 (first part)

2011 is just 24 hours away, maybe its time to share the highlights of my year. I may not be exact about everything but I will do all the best to remember those AWESOME memories. :)

And yes! AWESOME is my word of the year. :)

So here it is, (sort out by month!)

JANUARY

This is one of my shots. I'm sure this is not the photo that is included in our exhibit. :) Anyway, I like it.

We went to Corregidor (Camera Club with 3rd year photojourn students :)). We are very lazy to take photos because its very hot! We even wanted to swim but we don't have our swim wears. Its a nice experience because CORREGIDOR is history. And as I say history, we encountered creepy moments. Haha.

My looorves!

They are my girls. When we speak about tv series, we are the main characters. I remember that this happened after Corregidor, we ate at Teriyaki Boy wherein we cursed the place after. I think this is the time that when we don't have that much money. We tried not to buy or spend anything on Corregidor but we realized that after eating at Teriyaki Boy, we spent too much. Do you know the feeling when you spend money then after you'll say "Grrr. di kaya masarap, di ako nabusog!" I even remember we are cursing Airiz on the way home because she's the one who says she wants Maki.. It all started there. :) This is one of the "breathe of fresh air moments" that I have with them. Not in the picture: Kianah and Paolo :)

Our dear friend Niley. Our little girl suddenly became a woman na. We love you dear Niley and our dear Eiffel.

Mr. and Ms. Cas - the time that we assisted the contestants in their outfits and everything. Haggard moments but feels good because we dream of working backstage. Thanks for Saii and Rei, for allowing us to give help. Super haggard and I remember "nag init ulo ko sa isang contestant." haha. secret! :)

Elai's 19th birthday

February

COCOPEA CONGRESS :) Actually I don't remember the details of the program though MOST of the Presidential Candidates at that time are very late. The students are even tired to listen to them. My friends are busy looking at the food table if there's still spaghetti. The only thing I remember fully is our picture taking at SMX :)

Of course, who could forget? Row's 21st birthday Celeb at Starbucks! :)

March

I think March is one of my depressed months. :) I remember we have moments of haggard days because of requirements. And moments when I would cry because Mega Pub., Summit Media- my dream places for internship are still not responding to my emails. I was really devastated at that time. Some good points are, I have dinner nights with my friends.

But I think the most special one is when Eiffel Paris came into our lives. Especially to our friend Nile and Anjo. Their little angel. I think she's truly a blessing not only for her mama and papa but also for us. I remember that between those busy days we would stop everything just to talk. (I'm referring to original a104 barkada - mean girls) We are all happy for Niley.

I just hope Eiffel will not grow up that fast. (pwede ba yun?) haha. When you grow up, I will let you read this blog and to show you that you are very loved. :)

April

My kuya's graduation :) and bestfriend's 20th birthday. Pictures here and here

My internship moments

I dream of being in a Magazine Publication but in the media organization Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR), I experienced more than what I wanted to experience. I tried something different (out of the box my usual feature stories) wherein I have applied the lessons my professor, Sir Gil Santos, taught us.
I even experienced the "its getting hot in here" in the office when ABS CBN's Maria A. Ressa defended their news team on a statement given by CMFR. (grabe ang awesome lang kasi.. Ang gagaling ng mga boss namin and of course the veteran journalist Mr. Luis Teodoro.)

It is also the time I fully understand the Maguindanao Massacre Case wherein we got to attend rallies and made interviews with prominent people in Media and Politics. We felt for the victims' families but we also learned to do our job and forget about the emotions. We were also one of those photographers & reporters who are joking, laughing and almost killing each other just to get interviews and photos. But, the best is when your work is published. With those hundred edits and different colors of marks just to make it perfect. See here

It is nice to meet new people but the most awesome is to stay friends with them after all of this. I will forever be grateful to them.

May

Still finishing my last days in the office when some of my friends also started their internship at CMFR. So, I don't have that so called "vacation" but I have "gala" days with my cousins. :)I even learn how to play BINGO (sa mall). We almost won Php 10,000. ALMOST! "Ganun pala yun feeling pag isang number na lang kulang mo, akala mo talaga mananalo ka na.... :)) My kuya ninoy (cousin) said (who is an expert bingo player) "ano ba yan? Naubos ko na yun ten thousand sa utak ko eh.." hahahah!

June

National Press Forum at Diamond Hotel

The time when we wished that we could turn back time. Sana dun na lang kami sa event ng CMFR pumunta. hahaha. Anyway its an experience na pakape kape, cookies at ensaymada. :)) I love my girls (elai, jedi, debs, airiz) this time wala kami ginawa kundi tumawa at maidlip. :))At syempre makinig kay Sir Yambot. :))

Enjoying each other's company. -Seniors na. :)

Wow. I realized first 6 months pa lang ng year parang ang dami ng nangyari. :)) pano pa kaya sa second part? :))
