Everytime I visit National Bookstore and Powerbooks, I always try to find books that is different from the books that I usually read. I'm more of a Drama, Romance, Adventure, Chick Lit kind of a reader. But, i'm really interested in Court Room Dramas, and suspense. I would also like to revive my love for Classics. So, maybe this coming year... I would really grab one of those and start reading it instead of just reading its back covers. No to cost cutting! haha!
This year i opened my heart to Paulo Coelho's The Valkyries, If you would ask my friend Airiz, you would know why... I read it for more than 4 months (*not sure!) because I usually end up forgetting the last chapter, untill i'll reread again. Okay?! so much for that.. When I've finished it, nasabi ko na lang na sana tinapos ko to ng mas maaga. Paulo believes in Angels. and I do too... I fell inlove with his wife Chris. In a different way it inspired me a lot about my faith. and it imposed to me that we should really forgive ourselves from the mistakes we have done in the past. Too much for my words, just read it :)
Dear John, The Last Song, The Wedding, A Bend in the Road, The Choice, The Notebook.
from my favorite Nicholas Sparks. Maybe I would try to do an individual post about this haha. BUT, DEAR JOHN is my favorite of all Sparks books. Before, it was A Walk to Remember but JOHN TYREE AND SAVANNAH CURTIS surpassed the love i had for Jamie and Landon :)
Oh! I forgot to include Philippine Publication Books... Hmm. Another post maybe :)
So now, I only got one day before 2010 arrive, and i'm praying that if ever my friends doesn't have any books on my list, I hope I will have a budget to buy them... :)
First on my list, is from the author that inspires me in all the novel that he wrote!

Have a Little Faith: The Story of a Last Request
It is about the different worlds of a Jewish and Christian,
African-Amarican and White, Poor and rich. Another book from Sparks that signifies life's purpose. About losing faith or belief and finding it again.
*oooh! drools :)
I've also read that 10% of the profits of the book will go to charity,
"The Hole In The Roof Foundation"
So Now Im really thinking if I will buy the book or just borrow from a friend :)

The Memory Keeper's Daughter
written by Kim Edward
Its my first encounter with the author, I got intrigued with its title when i foud it NBS bookshelves while waiting for my bestfriend.
It is about a doctor's decision that will always haunt him and his family's lives forever.
"In 1964, when a blizzard forces Dr. David Henry to deliver his own twins, he immediately recognizes that one of them has Down Syndrome and makes a split-second decision that will haunt all their lives forever. He asks his nurse to take the baby away to an institution and to keep her birth a secret. Instead, she disappears into another city to raise the child as her own."
I have a thing on stories about down syndrome, abnormalities, etc eversince I've watched "I am sam". So, I think this will be a good book to read in the start of a new year.

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
"Emily Bront's only novel is set in the wild, bleak Yorkshire Moors. Depicting the relationship of Cathy and Heathcliff, Wuthering Heights creates a world of its own, conceived with an instinct for poetry and for the dark depths of human psychology."
I was interested when One of my teachers in high school mentioned in one of his lectures. I forgot what year ko nun. Basta may English Teacher ako na nagbanggit nito. :P
South of the Border, West of the Sunby: Haruki Murakami
At first, I know that the author is a popular Japanese Novelist.
And that's all. Then I googled him, actually I even thought he's a her. haha! I don't know maybe because of the name. Sorry na tao lang!
Then I've seen his books in the front tables of Powerbooks. feeling ko na, na magaling siya. :) Until, i tried to read the back covers of his books and then i encountered this -------->
And I read the "South of the Border" refers to the song of Mr. Nat King Cole. but base on wikipedia.org there's no evidence that Cole has recorded the song. It is about the life of childhood friends Hajime and Shimamoto (an only child, has a polio).
They grow apart when they're in high school and were reunited when they're already had a life on their own.
"It has chain of events that eventually forces Hajime to choose between his wife and family or attempting to recapture the magic of the past."
(*sometimes! I really believe in the magic of the past)

Lolita by Vladimir
It is a love story with the power to raise both chuckles and eyebrows. Humbert Humbert is a European intellectual adrift in America, haunted by memories of a lost adolescent love. When he meets his ideal nymphet in the shape of 12-year-old Dolores Haze, he constructs an elaborate plot to seduce her, but first he must get rid of her mother. In spite of his diabolical wit, reality proves to be more slippery than Humbert's feverish fantasies, and Lolita refuses to conform to his image of the perfect lover.
Thanks to my ol friend Zee :). I've seen it in her post and I tried to google it and I was attracted to its description.
The Book of Tomorrowwritten by: Cecelia Ahern
from the author of P.S. I love you
It is about Tamara Goodwin, the girl who gets everything she wanted but that changed when his dad was gone.
"When a travelling library passes through Kilsaney Demesne, Tamara is intrigued. She needs a distraction. Her eyes rest on a mysterious large leather bound tome locked with a gold clasp and padlock. With some help, Tamara finally manages to open the book. What she discovers within the pages takes her breath away and shakes her world to its core."
Well, i like things about magic. :)
STAR GIRL by Jerry SpinelliI found this book when it was feautured in Meg Magazine.
It is an emotional tale about the perils of popularity and the thrill and inspiration of first love.
HAHA! I wanted to read the book last 2008! but i focused on Nicholas Sparks books that's why I forgot this. :)
ALL AMERICAN GIRL SEQUEL: READY OR NOT
I was browsing pictures of book covers when I encountered this. then I thought I want to cry because I didn't know that MY FAVE CHICK LIT has a sequel. DAMN!! I'm a loser. huhuhu.
So, I want it now. Read it now. I NEED IT. OK?!
I was in love with Sam and David, whoever they are read the first book. And Meg Cabot is my favorite Chick Lit Author. WHERE the hell can i find this book? I haven't seen it in NBS and Powerbooks before. Or, im just stupid of not seeing it because i thought its just the fiirst book with a different cover???? Stupid me! Anyway, I will definitely read this! :)Well, I have many books on the list. haha Actually its my first time to do a list. I did it to remind myself that I should read books MORE or MOST?! haha than surfing the net. I'm losing new ideas for my stories and maybe this books will be a big help.
