Leaving my brothers and sisters behind

The title's just so dramatic. Very different from my Sentinel Family's usual goofy and funny personalities. So now you know that this blog post is dedicated to my favorite people in school.

"The Lyceum Independent Family"

Just by looking at these photos, look who is getting emotional...

To tell everyone the truth, I never expected my Senior Year to be an awesome one (because of the pressure of graduation and yes! Thesis!). And yes, The Sentinel Family is part of the reason why its hard to leave College life behind. Even its just a year, it felt like years of spending time discussing about random things, teasing each other, fooling around, eat lunch, merienda, breakfast, dinners together.

I didn't really aim for an editorial position when I applied for Sentinel. I just want to try writing in a school paper and be busy so that I could write it in my resume. Little did I know that I just didn't gain extra credits for my resume but I automatically have brothers and sisters.

The Sentinel 2010-2011 didn't have a good start. Everyone has many issues from each other. I'm really glad it all ended (di nga?!) haha. As far as I know, we're okay now more than ever. (NYEK?!)

Haaaiii. I really don't know what to say but....

Thank You
Thank You guys for welcoming me in your life. I will surely miss our moments together. I hope you would keep in mind the lessons I have shared. Not only the lessons but also the kalokohans. Huwag masyadong malala.

The Sentinel gave me a family and walang palyang supporters. I remember when we were all "ngarag", hours before our thesis presentation, I received many sms from all of you, saying Good luck!, Kaya niyo yan!, Go Mamu! etc.. I was really touched. If I could just hug everyone at that time, I would.

Whenever you watch us perform and make a fool out of ourselves during productions, thank you guys.

Thank You for being my brothers and sisters.

I will miss
Because of Sentinel, I learned to edit articles. i also learned to pray hard and harder so that my reporters could pass the articles in time. I would surely miss the days when I would send group messages to feature reporters then noone would reply except for Ken who'll say "wala pa din pong dumadating na articles sa kin."

I will also miss the days when MJ, Cindy and I will talk about life then Armon, JM and Rai would butt in then everyone else will be part of the conversation. Many new lessons learned from them.

I will miss seeing the bulletin board full of notes, memos, revised articles and angry messages (bakit angry? kasi naka CAPSLOCK!) like.. *******, ARTICLE MO?... or **** asan ka? USAP TAYO., I will also miss the dirty kadiri office that I always try to clean up but always end up madumi, dahil very good nga ang mga Senti Peeps.

I will also miss the merienda moments when everone would buy sopas, turon, fish crackers, lomi kay nanay. Eat at the canteen because we're all too lazy to get outside the school campus.

I will miss the love teams reel/real.

I will miss all the random conversations that we have from family problems, financial problems, irritating professors, *feeling niyo lang walang kwentang* subjects, Disney Stars, Gossip girl, Glee, any movie that's showing, accounting, VPAA, Admin, news, feature, bashing the AWESOME Literary Section, Sports, Margaret, Jejemon, Bronzy's love life, internships etc etc.

I will miss the Sentibabies! :)

I will miss the times when we just go to school just to *tambay* at Sentinel. :))

So guys, you have the Senti office all for yourself, There's more room for electric outlets, at wala ng manghaharbat ng wifi.

Take care of each other, take care of Sentinel, the school paper. The reason why we were all in room 123-A?.

Remember that you should love and respect each other. Everyone is fighting a hard battle... Always be professional --wala na kaming magpapagaan ng nararamdaman ng mga nagkakasamaan ng loob... but, I know kaya niyo naman yan e. Always remember when under pressure, good vibes lang tayey!

Listen to your editors, if you can't do a certain responsibility tell them days before the deadline. Read more, learn more, write more. No one could ever get rid of arguments so accept it, no one's perfect but you should also remember you are friends BEFORE that argument. Huwag niyong hayaang masira ng trabaho ang pagkakaibigan (vice versa). Sometimes, let go of your pride. Also guys, learn to LISTEN. HEARING someone is not enough....

And be more awesome this coming school year, welcome the new staff with big hugs. Make them feel comfortable. Fresh start again for everyone. Look back to all the past works that we have then brainstorm new ideas.

Features Team... kayo na bahala ah! Laaam niyo na yan! *kung sino man ang mapapadpad sa Features*

I love you guys so much!

And also guys, always remember what Mr. Nathaniel Santos said in an article for 25 years, “THE SENTINEL is not made in just a snap of the fingers, the pioneers fought hard to have an independent school paper for the student’s welfare. It’s now in your hands to, continue its legacy.”

lovelovelove everyone!

Life Changing Semester

This post is beyond OVERDUE. I should have blogged about this right after 1st semester ended. I didn't because I was too lazy and too tired. HAHA!

I am on my last year in College that's why I wanted to make a difference. Or from the very start I really wanted to do something that I haven't done before. Something productive. When I decided to join Lyceum Independent Sentinel, I just wanted to write. Write anything under the sun. And yes, honestly, I also joined the school paper so I have something to put on my "future" resume. But, the school paper made me into something I thought I could never be.

I just applied for feature writer but they gave me something more. I remember when Mam Ren asked "What position are you applying for?" I said, writer for features or news (thank God! they didn't gave me news.) They asked why not Editor? and I answered "Because I don't have experience, "nagsusulat lang naman po ako ng articles sa klase niyo, Sir (referring to Sir Gil)." I don't know what happened but they gave me an Editorial Position. Feature Editor - unbelievable. Me? an editor? Anyway, I have to face it.

I questioned myself if I deserve the position, actually until now. But, everytime I remember my Kuya's motivation and my ate's (cousin) kind words, I
always hold on. That's another issue. :)
I didn't write this blog to talk about my insecurities. (that's another story) :)

Team Building

The Sentinel, taught me many things. Skills without love and passion is worthless. The school paper also opened my life to new people. At the end of the semester, I gained new friends and created a family. We are not perfect. We have our own flaws but little by little I came to know each one of them. Shared little stories to big secrets. First issue of my section is Okay. But, I know I haven't done my best because I was excited to release my first article and I'm just learning the life of an editor. A hard but fulfilling one.

Along with Sentinel, our very own LPU Camera Club was already official, and I also joined other school organizations. And I realized, I didn't just join this organizations just to put something on my resume but because I want to take a step forward. I want to be out on my comfort zone. And I have done a good job. I enjoyed my first semester with work and fulfillment.

First Semester made me appreciate Chemistry Class, I'm a bit slow when it comes to sciences but I learned something from this subject because of our professor. She's a good and considerate professor, thanks Mam Nicdao. I will also remember Mam Tabin in Logic, because of her I became closer to our Creator. :)

My Chem Loorves.

Though, this semester marked my lowest grades. :)
I don't have a 5.00 nor 3.00 but my highest grade was only 1.75 and got more 2.50. Still, this is my most productive semester, ever!
But I need to say goodbye to you. I have to say hi to second sem.

Oh Gosh! I'm almost there. Thank you Lord. :)

P.S. I am experiencing a writer's block right now that's why I need to right something random. Sorry if I have wrong grammars or whatever.
