day five: six of your favourite books

1) Have a little faith by Mitch Albom - and again.. this book changed my life. "Have a Little Faith is a book about a life's purpose; about losing belief and finding it again; about the divine spark inside us all. It is one man's journey, but it is everyone's story."

One thing I could never forget is '

Look. I know what I believe. It's in my soul. But I constantly tell our people: you sould be convinced of the authenticity of what you have, but you must also be humble enough to say that we don't know everything. And since we don't know everything, we must accept that another person may believe something else.

2) Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, It was long time ago when I reread the book and only Jo's character remained in me. Maybe because when I was little, I can relate to Jo more. Because at that time, I really want to be adventurous, I want to be a girl who acts like a boy but still a girl at heart. :) I also share something with Jo, her passion for writing. Anyway, i love all of them. Whenever I remember Little Women, I miss my childhood. :)

3) Dear John by Nicholas Sparks - i love tragic stories. 'nuff said. :)

"Our story has three parts: a beginning, a middle, and an end. And although this is the way all stories unfold, I still can't believe that ours didn't go on forever."

4) Wicked: The times and life of the Wicked witch of the West :) I always love stories that would bring me to flashbacks. Like in Wicked, Why did they call her wicked witch of the west? What is the story behind it? Because I believe that there's a reason about everything. :) And I want to know that reason! haha!

5) Para Kay B by Ricky Lee -

"Me quota ang pag-ibig. Sa bawat limang umiibig ay isa lang ang magiging maligaya. Kasama ka ba sa quota?"

This book shocked me to death. haha! But, I learned many lessons, it opened my mind about different kinds of love in the modern world. :)

6) Hunger Games Trilogy - Peeta and Katniss and Gale. Rue and Prim rose. Cinna. Finnick. This book made me forget to study on my final exams. Almost forgot some of my very important school works. Just read the book and you'll know what i'm talking about.

7) Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami - after I read this book, I stopped reading for more than 2 weeks. I just want to absorb the story. I just want Midori to stay in imagination. "Masyado kong inaattach ang sarili ko sa mga characters kahit anong pigil ko, hindi talaga." haha. Affected much!

Day 13 — A fictional book

FICTION: THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN

I really want to use my own words about this book but I'm soooo sleepy so just read this. from shelfari.com (if you haven't read the book!)

"The Five People You Meet in Heaven" by Mitch Albom begins by introducing Eddie, an 83 year-old maintenance man. His father worked at the Ruby Pier and Eddie followed in suit. It was all that he ever knew, and everyday of his existence was filled with making sure that the rides at the amusement park ran smoothly. Eddie could even hear when something was wrong with a ride and that's why he knew exactly what happened on the fateful day when he lost his life. As a sacrifice, Eddie ran in under a falling ride to save a little girl's life. He felt tiny arms pulling him, later he would learn that those arms were pulling him to Heaven.
Eddie arrives at Heaven only to learn that it not a paradise, but a place where his life is explained by five people that were somehow connected to him while he was on earth. This shocks him, especially when he meets the Blue Man. The Blue Man was a circus freak at the Ruby Pier that was accidently killed by Eddie when he darted out in front of his car. This circus freak taught Eddie that everyone in the world is connected somehow. Next, Eddie meets the Captain, his commanding officer in World War II. The Captain shocked Eddie by revealing that he had died in order to save him. Along with sharing his story, the captain revealed how sacrifice and choices can define a life. The third person Eddie met was Ruby, the co-founder of the Ruby Pier. Ruby tells Eddie that anger is useless and this allows Eddie to be able to mend his realationship with his father. After this encounter Eddie met the person he had been waiting for, his wife, Marguerite. She was the only person Eddie truly cared for and of course, she taught him about ever-lasting love. The last and perhaps most important person he met was Tala. She was a young Filipino girl who was accidentally, and unfortunatley burned in the fire that Eddie set as revenge against his enemies in the war. Eddie had never known her, but had dreamt about her every night since. At last, she revealed that Eddie's life did have a purpose and that it was protecting children everyday at the Ruby Pier.
In the end, Eddie walks through the Ruby Pier to find his wife and, his Heaven. The best thing about his Heaven is that he can go to rest knowing that his life had meaning and that everything makes sense. It's certainly not what he expected, but it was certainly what he needed. Mr. Albom leaves us with the knowledge that Eddie is a part of a Heaven for the little girl that he saved at the Ruby Pier. The cycle will continue and everyone in Heaven will have the chance of learning the true meaning of their life."

Day 4: Favorite Book/s

I'm staring on a blank screen for an hour thinking if I would share all my favorite books or just pick my top 5. But, I decided to share 3!

So first on my list:

Five People you meet in heaven

by (my fave!) MITCH ALBOM

I always say that this book never fails to make me cry. Though I have read it a thousand times, I still cry and feel the words of Mitch Albom or lets say the words spoken by the characters. I will always love the Blue Man and Tala. :) And also the captain. Compared to Tuesday's with Morrie, I love Five People.. more. I just hope someday, I can be like Mitch --someone who can inspire a lot of people.

Second on the list:

Dear John by Nicholas Sparks

A soldier, a regular college girl, they fell in love. In their hearts they knew its true and eternal but life sucks. Fate is playful. A drama of father/son that made me cry while I was reading it on the bus.

It touched my heart, very much. I talked about it 24/7 to my friends for two months. hahaha!

Just don't compare it to the movie. Jeez. Its different. Though, I can imagine Channing Tatum as John Tyree (lalalallalalalalalla) :)

I like the 3rd book but, not as much as the first two. :(

It started from a witty and cool gang Vince, Spider, Connie and Andrea to

"i will wait until there's nothing left to wait for" and ends up with

I won’t be stuck in the past, holding on to our yesterday, waiting for something that won’t ever come back.

Actually it has a simple plot and everything but when I read it, it feels like I am reading a blog of a guy next door. Something a girl always wishes for. Some guy who knows the real meaning of love, he doesn't need to be prince charming, just him. Real, cute and funny. :)

So that's it.
