The soundtrack to the upcoming teen vampire romance Twilight debuts at #1 on The Billboard 200. Twilight is the first soundtrack to hit #1 in advance of the movie's release since 8 Mile six years ago. That album topped the Nielsen/SoundScan chart for the week ending Nov. 3, 2002. The Eminem movie was released on Nov. 8.

Only five other soundtracks have ever hit #1 in advance of the movie's release. In 1997, Private Parts hit #1 five days before the Howard Stern comedy opened. In 1994, Murder Was The Case hit #1 four months before the Snoop Dogg movie opened. In 1975, That's The Way Of The World hit #1 one month before the little-seen Earth, Wind & Fire movie opened. In 1964, A Hard Day's Night hit #1 two weeks before The Beatles movie opened. And in 1951 (hey, I said "ever"), Show Boat hit #1 six weeks before the MGM musical opened.

The Twilight soundtrack features two songs by Paramore plus songs by such other acts as Linkin Park, Collective Soul and Perry Farrell. Twilight is the first rock-oriented soundtrack to hit #1 since Armageddon rang the bell in its second week in 1998. That album spawned Aerosmith's only #1 hit on the Hot 100 and also included tracks by the likes of ZZ Top and Journey. (I'm classifying the Juno soundtrack, which hit #1 earlier this year, as alternative, as opposed to rock).

Twilight is the third movie soundtrack to hit #1 so far this year, following Juno and Mamma Mia! This is the first year in which three movie soundtracks have gone all the way since 1998, when Titanic, City Of Angels and Armageddon all rang the bell.

Twilight is the first movie soundtrack to debut at #1 since Jack Johnson's Curious George did it in 2006. It's the first rock-oriented movie soundtrack to debut at #1 since Private Parts in 1997. Only four other movie soundtracks-Murder Was The Case, Gridlock'd, 8 Mile and Bad Boys-have opened in the lead position.

Robert Pattinson, who plays the vampire in Twilight, has one song, "Never Think," on the soundtrack. Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, who plays the heroine Bella, appear on the cover of the current issue of Entertainment Weekly. The movie, due Nov. 21, is based on Stephanie Meyer's popular series of books. The books have been best-sellers, the CD is #1. Does any one doubt that the movie will be a smash?

High School Musical 3: Graduation Day holds at #3 for the second straight week. This is the first time that movie soundtracks have held down two of the top three spots since January 2007, when Dreamgirls was #2 and Jump In! was #3.

my realizations when mccain concedes to obama

Im not even an obama supporter nor a mccain fan. I just find it interesting to know the next president of the United States. In our News and feature Writing Class, we have known the consequences if either of the two will win.
Now, the election happened and Obama won.

I admired McCain for his courage to stand in front everyone to congratulate Obama and accepted his failure with grace.
It's not easy to face the whole world and tell "Hey, I lost!" and then congratulate your opponent. But, McCain did it. I've also seen Al Gore done this when, George Bush won the presidency.

Ang Pilipinong Pulitiko kaya? Magagawa yun?

Realizations:
Bilang isang Pilipino (Filipino), naisip ko kung gaano kalayo ang agwat natin sa mga Amerikano pagdating sa Pulitika. Siguro kung sa Plipinas nagkaroon ng eleksyon, baka sa susunod na buwan pa natin malalaman kung sino ang magiging Pangulo (pero sabi nga nila automated elections na daw sa susunod na eleksyon!). O di kaya, mag aaway away nanaman at magkakaroon ng walang humpay na rally, para lang sabihin na "dinaya sila".

So, parang ganito lang yan. Kung lahat sila dinaya, at yung nanalo ang nangdaya, ano na lang mangyayari sa bansa natin?...(think of it!)

Para sa kin, isang magandang bansa pa rin ang Pilipinas. Ang mga taong nakatira dito ang siyang sumisira ng ating bansa. Lalong lalo na ang mga pulitikong walang ginawa kundi kurakutin at ipakita sa lahat na sila'y magaling kahit hindi naman.

Sa susunod na eleksyon na gaganapin sa Pilipinas, sana ay mas maging bukas na ang isip ng tao at HINDI NA MAGING makasarili ang mga pulitiko.

I never loved this cartoon creature since i was a kid. haha.

I just heard my friends mentioning about him or her? whatever!

July 15 -- english time... mr. barney came into the PICTURE.
To be honest, i noticed his looks but again for me -- i thought he is just same ordinary guy who just go to his classes because he paid for the tuition fee...

And yes, after several times that english class started, its either his late or absent.

How could i know him better? haha

That simple question made my day. "What's my course?" -- at least he knows that i existed. That question was answered by a fact and he answered back with a smile. A smile that made my heart jump. A heart-jumping moment that until now cringed me to death.

How do i came up to the name barney? I was fooling around with friends before the class ends until a friend mentioned about a cartoon character that he/she (haha!) compared to me. I just laughed until someone tapped my shoulder and butted in "hayaan mo kung ikaw si teletubbies, siya naman si barney". There's no heart thumping moment from that words but the fact that he sided with me (we hardly know each other!) is truly a memorable moment.

There started again this GIRL's fantasy. She again believed that she is human. A human who can be moved by someone from the other side of her world.
Her life continued with some moments that made her heart stop. Through her peripheral vision she knew Barney looked at her way. But, she thought that " ASSUMING na naman ako"

So, days.. weeks.. months continued that they haven't got any chance to know each other better. But, you know what? She is contented with that. The simple stare, sweet smiles and quick hi's and hello's.

The semester ended that she realized that fantasy or Reality, it still made her heart -- occupied and happy. even just for a short time.

So let me talk to my BARNEY: See you in the hallway.If there's any chance that we'll be classmates again, i'll be more friendly and approachable. Thank you -- thank you for bringing my heart to its original human form.
